This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced People Advisor to join our People Team, reporting into the Retail People Partner. You’ll support both the People Team and Retail Managers across a network of 90 galleries in the UK and internationally, providing day-to-day HR and employee relations support, managing the employee lifecycle, and contributing to wider people projects. This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, likes being close to the business, and wants to continue building their career across employee relations and generalist HR.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing practical, people-focused advice to managers on employee relations matters such as performance, absence, conduct, grievance, and policy queries, with guidance from the Retail People Partner.
- Managing ER casework, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, and absence cases, supporting managers through the process and ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant.
- Supporting investigations and formal meetings, including preparing paperwork, coordinating meetings, and taking notes where required.
- Supporting employee lifecycle activities, including probation reviews, family-friendly matters, and flexible working requests.
- Assisting with HR projects and initiatives, such as engagement activity, change projects, and policy updates.
- Maintaining accurate HR records and ensuring GDPR-compliant data handling.
- Supporting the analysis of people data and trends (e.g. absence, ER cases) to help identify themes and areas for improvement.
- Assisting with annual people processes such as pay review and reward activity, ensuring consistency and good communication.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in a People Advisor, HR Officer, or similar generalist HR role.
- Comfortable handling employee relations cases.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified (or equivalent experience).
- A practical, approachable style, able to build relationships with managers.
- Organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Confident communicator who can explain HR processes clearly and calmly.
- Happy working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to support gallery teams.
What you’ll get:
- Hybrid working (3 days in Lichfield HQ, 2 from home).
- 33 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays).
- Contributory pension scheme.
- Employee Loyalty Scheme — access to artwork discounts.
- Discounts across retail, leisure, food and gyms.
- Wellbeing support including EAP and 24/7 GP service.
- Exposure to a broad, varied People role with support from an experienced People Partner.
Why join us?
This is a great opportunity to:
- Add real value by applying your experience to practical, day-to-day people challenges.
- Work closely with managers in a fast-moving retail environment.
- Get exposure to projects and development work, not just casework.
- Continue to build your career in employee relations and generalist HR.
- Be supported to grow your career within a strong People function.
