Originally born in 1776, the McConnell’s brand fell on hard times along with the rest of the Irish Whisky industry in the mid-20th century, ultimately closing its gates in 1938. However fast forward 80+ years and thanks to the resilient entrepreneurial spirit Belfast is renowned for, the once world-famous McConnell’s Irish Whisky brand was revived in 2020 and we’re ready to make our mark on the world of whisky. Since its relaunch the brand is already available in over 40 markets worldwide, winning 49 Global Whisky Industry Awards along the way. The brand reached another seminal moment in April 2024 as we opened our brand home, transforming an old Victorian prison at the Crumlin Road Gaol into our award-winning state of the art Irish Whisky distillery in the heart of Belfast.

We are seeking a passionate Brand Ambassador to be the face and the voice of our brand, re-telling the story of McConnell’s Irish Whisky through driving brand awareness and building brand advocacy amongst trade and consumers. The Brand Ambassador’s priority market will be Northern Ireland, with some focus on Dublin and periodic international trips to support trade events. The Brand Ambassador will be responsible for building and strengthening relationships with key customers, trade partners and consumers, whilst working closely with our distributor partners to support commercial objectives.

You will drive brand education and development, through delivering engaging brand trainings, creating and sharing brand-led content and brand activations, and growing a network of influential trade partners and brand advocates within the local whiskey community.

The Brand Ambassador will partner closely with distributor sales teams to achieve sales targets, executing a structured journey plan to bring new accounts on-board and supporting Travel Retail channels by engaging shoppers and implementing brand sampling. You will support event organisation for key trade shows and festivals, ensuring brand materials, product, and POS are in place for all events.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in on-trade/off-trade engagement and advocacy building, with a passion for Irish Whisky and premium spirits. Experience working with trade partners and distributors is essential and will require a highly motivated self-starter with an ability to build effective relationships quickly and proficiency in social media engagement and content creation.

This role will require high energy and adaptability, with a commitment to representing the McConnell’s Irish Whisky brand values.
