As part of its continued growth and strategic development, Henry Brothers is now seeking to appoint an experienced and commercially astute Head of Planning to play a key leadership role within the business.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Planning will take responsibility for company-wide programme management and planning development across Tender, Pre-Construction and Live Construction stages. This is a strategically important appointment, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape and modernise the planning function while working closely with senior leadership teams to support the successful delivery of projects across the UK. The role will suit an ambitious planning professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and deliver construction programmes across tender, pre-construction and live project stages
  • Work collaboratively with Bid and Construction teams to develop robust and deliverable tender programmes
  • Maintain and manage programmes in accordance with NEC and JCT contract requirements
  • Support short-term planning activities including procurement, trade sequencing, resource planning, commissioning and handover programmes
  • Participate in commercial reviews and project risk assessments
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, quality assurance activities, recruitment and trainee development
  • Support the continued evolution of the Planning function, including the progression towards 4D planning and BIM integration
  • Drive continuous improvement and modernisation of planning processes across the business
  • Build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders

The Person

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in construction planning and programme management within a main contracting environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Asta Powerproject
  • Experience of additional planning software such as MS Project or Primavera P6 would be advantageous
  • Sound understanding of NEC and JCT contracts
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence at senior level
  • A proactive and collaborative approach with a desire to contribute to the future development of the planning function
