We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker / Site Assistant to join a welcoming and well‑maintained school in Leicester from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will support the day‑to‑day operation of the school site, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a high standard and are fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the opening and closing of the school premises
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and general handyman duties
- Ensure the school site is clean, safe, secure, and well‑presented at all times
- Conduct regular health and safety checks and report any concerns
- Support with site security, including monitoring access and responding to alarms when required
- Prepare rooms and facilities for school events, meetings, and examinations
- Liaise with contractors and external service providers as directed
- Assist with grounds maintenance, including litter picking and ensuring outdoor areas remain safe and tidy
- Support the Site Manager with statutory compliance checks and record keeping
Requirements
- Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site support role is desirable
- Practical maintenance and DIY skills
