Location: Leicester

Contract: Long-term

Salary: £179 - £255 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Are you a passionate Geography Teacher looking for your next long-term role in Leicester? We are currently recruiting an enthusiastic and engaging Teacher of Geography for a secondary school in Leicester. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for either an experienced Geography Teacher or an ambitious ECT who is looking to join a supportive department and establish themselves within a school for an extended period.

You will be teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging lessons across human and physical geography while helping GCSE students develop the knowledge, confidence and examination skills required to achieve their potential. The school is looking for someone who can bring Geography to life in the classroom, encourage students to question the world around them and create an environment where pupils are motivated to learn.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach a broad curriculum covering both human and physical geography
  • Support students preparing for GCSE Geography
  • Create lessons that encourage curiosity, debate and critical thinking
  • Adapt teaching to support students with different abilities and learning needs
  • Monitor progress and use assessment effectively to identify areas for improvement
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement
  • Work closely with colleagues within the Humanities/Geography department
  • Contribute to departmental planning and the development of teaching resources
  • Support revision, intervention and enrichment activities where appropriate
  • Participate in fieldwork and educational visits where required

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • A Geography degree or strong academic background within the subject
  • Experience teaching Geography within a UK secondary school
  • Confidence teaching KS3 and GCSE Geography
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to plan engaging, well-structured lessons
  • A genuine enthusiasm for Geography and the ability to pass that enthusiasm on to students
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of young people

ECTs are also encouraged to apply. Experience teaching Geography at KS5 would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Long-term Geography position in Leicester
  • Competitive daily rate of £179 - £255, depending on experience
  • Opportunity to become an established member of the department
  • Supportive secondary school environment
  • Consistent timetable rather than day-to-day supply
  • Opportunity to make a genuine impact on student progress
  • Ongoing support throughout your placement
