We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker / Site Assistant to join a welcoming and well-maintained school in Leicester from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a high standard and are fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the opening and closing of the school premises
  • Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and general handyman duties
  • Ensure the school site is clean, safe, secure, and well-presented at all times
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks and report any concerns
  • Support with site security, including monitoring access and responding to alarms when required
  • Prepare rooms and facilities for school events, meetings, and examinations
  • Liaise with contractors and external service providers as directed
  • Assist with grounds maintenance, including litter picking and ensuring outdoor areas remain safe and tidy
  • Support the Site Manager with statutory compliance checks and record keeping
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site support role is desirable
  • Practical maintenance and DIY skills
