We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to join an experienced and well-established Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and committed leader to contribute to the strategic direction, leadership and day-to-day management of a specialist all-through setting supporting pupils aged 4-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving school improvement, promoting high standards of teaching and learning, and ensuring positive outcomes for all pupils. Working closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team, the Deputy Headteacher will help to foster a supportive, inclusive and high-performing environment for both students and staff.

The role requires a strong, reflective leader with a passion for making a meaningful difference to the lives of young people, particularly those with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Headteacher in providing strategic leadership and management across the setting.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school improvement plan.
  • Lead on key areas of teaching, learning and curriculum development.
  • Promote high expectations of behaviour, attendance and achievement.
  • Support and develop staff through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Ensure high-quality provision for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning across the school.
  • Use data effectively to track progress and inform decision-making.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with families, external agencies and the wider community.
  • Deputise for the Headteacher when required.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Significant leadership experience within a school setting.
  • A proven track record of improving outcomes for pupils.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and inclusive practice.
  • Experience of leading teaching and learning or whole-school initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and support staff and pupils.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
