We are looking for a friendly and reliable Nursery Lunch Cover Assistant to join our team in Thetford.
You will play an important role in making sure our children receive healthy, balanced meals in a clean and safe environment. Your day will include preparing and reheating meals, catering for children with dietary requirements and allergies, keeping the kitchen clean and organised, and helping within the nursery when needed.
You will be working 12.5 hours a week, 11:30 am - 2 pm, Monday to Friday.
Your rate of pay will be £12.71 an hour.
Nursery Lunch Cover duties and responsibilities
- Prepare, reheat and serve children's meals in line with our nursery menu.
- Ensure children with allergies, intolerances and other dietary requirements receive the correct meals.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.
- Monitor and record food, fridge and freezer temperatures.
- Keep the kitchen, equipment, crockery and utensils clean and hygienic.
- Prepare nursery teas and ensure food is stored safely.
- Help with nursery laundry, including washing, drying and folding.
- Assist with childcare within the nursery when required.
- Work closely with the nursery team to help create a warm, friendly and caring environment for our children. N
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who is organised, flexible and enthusiastic, with a positive approach and the ability to work well as part of a busy nursery team.
You will need:
- Good organisation and time-management skills.
- The ability to follow food hygiene and safety procedures carefully.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to your work.
- A genuine enjoyment of being around children and a caring and respectful approach.
- A suitable Food Hygiene qualification, or a willingness to complete one.
- Previous experience in an early years setting or commercial kitchen would be an advantage, but is not essential.
