We are currently looking for a warm, enthusiastic and motivated Nursery Assistant to join our team in Cambridge. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to develop their career in early years education within a supportive and professional setting.

About the Role

As a Nursery Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the nursery, helping to create a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for children aged 0–5. You will work closely with your room team to deliver high-quality care and education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, while building strong relationships with children, parents and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engaging activities tailored to each child’s development and interests
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and stimulating environment
  • Supervise children during play, mealtimes and daily routines
  • Assist with personal care, including feeding, changing and hygiene
  • Keep accurate records such as registers, accidents and observations
  • Work as a key person for a small group of children, supporting their development and wellbeing
  • Build positive partnerships with parents and carers
  • Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and nursery policies at all times
  • Contribute to a warm, caring and inclusive nursery environment

Essential Requirements

  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Willingness to complete required training (including safeguarding and first aid)
  • Basic literacy skills to support record keeping
  • Ability to work professionally, respectfully and confidentially

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience working in an early years setting
  • A Level 2 childcare qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Knowledge of child development for ages 0–5

Our Nursery: Clarence House Cambridge is a homely nursery with a community feel in Cambridge, which is located in Chesterton, just off Green End Road. We are looking after children from 12 weeks to 5 years old and are open 51 weeks a year. It was rated Good by Ofsted in 2022.
