Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute software test cases to verify embedded system requirements, ensuring full test coverage.
- Set up and manage test environments for hardware and software integration, supporting complex system validation.
- Plan and conduct software test campaigns, integrating real hardware with simulation and emulation tools.
- Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, reports, compliance records, and fault logs.
- Perform manual and automated testing in Linux and Windows environments, ensuring software reliability.
- Investigate and report defects, providing clear reproduction steps and root‑cause analysis to engineering teams.
Qualifications Required Skills
- 5+ years experience in embedded software test engineering, ideally within defence, aerospace, or other safety‑critical systems
- Strong understanding of black‑box and white‑box testing methodologies
- Proficient in working with real‑time embedded systems and software/hardware version control tools
- Skilled in test case generation, metrics tracking, and compliance verification
- Experience using DOORS for requirements management and test traceability
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
Required Qualifications
- Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant engineering or computing field OR Equivalent applied experience from a UK Armed Forces technical background
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of IEC‑61508 or DO‑178C standards for safety‑critical software testing
- Experience with automated test scripting and working within Agile or Waterfall methodologies
- Background in software development, particularly with C, C++, or Python
