We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Practice Manager to join our friendly and forward-thinking GP surgery. Are you organised, motivated, and experienced in healthcare management, and already working in this role? Previous experience in a healthcare or GP practice setting is essential, with a minimum of two years required.

As our Assistant Practice Manager, you’ll support the Practice Manager in the day-to-day running of the surgery, ensuring smooth operations and the highest standard of care for our patients. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines administrative efficiency with people management and patient service.

Main duties of the job

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 10am-6pm inclusive of 30 mins unpaid lunchbreak
  • Flexibility: Some flexibility is required to accommodate additional or alternative hours to cover colleagues during annual/sickness leave.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the management of clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Oversee administrative systems, procedures, and patient services
  • Assist with rotas, recruitment, training, and HR processes
  • Write and update practice policies and procedures
  • Liaise with patients, staff, and external healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to compliance with CQC standards and practice policies
  • Strong administrative and IT skills, proficiency in use of EMIS, AgilioTeamNet, NHS ICT systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A proactive, flexible, and supportive team player

Claremont Clinic has been providing care to our community in Forest Gate and the surrounding area since 1951. We have over 12,300 registered patients and our premises have recently been fully refurbished. We are well rated by our patients achieving 4.4 stars in our Google Reviews. We are located on the Romford Road with good transport links. Woodgrange Park and Wanstead Park Suffragette Line (Overground) and Forest Gate and Manor Park (Elizabeth Line) stations are all within walking distance and there are bus stops just outside.

Salary: £16-17 per hour, dependent on experience

  • GP Surgery Management Experience (minimum 2 years)
  • GP Surgery Administrative Experience

  • Knowledge of NHS management and primary care structure
  • Experience in writing and reviewing healthcare policies in primary care

Qualifications

  • GCSE Grades C or above in English and Maths
  • Ability to speak and communicate clearly and proficiently in English.
  • Qualifications relating to (healthcare) management
