4+ PQE | Hybrid & Flexible Working | Full or Part Time | Unlimited Holiday

If you're a Family Solicitor who wants more than simply inheriting a caseload and getting on with it, this could be worth exploring.

This is an opportunity to join the Norwich Family team of one of East Anglia's largest law firms, with the freedom and encouragement to build your own profile, develop relationships in the local market and grow your practice.

You'll have your own varied caseload and genuine autonomy, but you'll also work alongside senior colleagues on more complex matters. So you get independence without being left on your own.

And importantly, there is flexibility around how you work. Full-time, part-time and flexible hours can all be considered, alongside hybrid working.

Why might this be worth a conversation?

Build something of your own

This isn't simply a case management role. The firm wants someone who would enjoy becoming increasingly visible in the Norwich market, developing relationships and building their own practice over time.

Good work, with senior support when you want it

You'll independently manage your own clients and matters while having the opportunity to work alongside more senior lawyers on complex cases.

The backing of a substantial regional firm

With more than 400 people and offices across East Anglia and Leeds, you'll have the resources and cross-referral opportunities that come with a broad-service firm advising individuals and businesses regionally, nationally and internationally.

The firm has also been recognised by Legal 500 and Chambers for more than 20 years, giving you a strong platform from which to develop your own reputation.

Flexibility isn't an afterthought

This is a firm that has actively looked at doing things differently around employee engagement, retention and agile working.

That includes unlimited paid time off, hybrid working and openness to full-time, part-time or other flexible working arrangements.

What will you be doing?

You’ll handle a broad range of privately funded family work, including:

  • Financial remedy matters
  • Private children matters
  • Family Law Act proceedings
  • Divorce and separation
  • Protective orders

Potentially pre- and post-nuptial agreements, with training available if this isn't already part of your experience You'll manage your own matters from initial consultation through to conclusion, including advocacy where appropriate, while working with senior colleagues on more complex cases.

The emphasis is on taking ownership. You’ll be trusted to use your initiative, progress cases proactively and provide clients with clear, practical and empathetic advice.

And if you enjoy business development... There is a real opportunity here.

The firm would like someone who wants to get out into the Norwich market, develop professional relationships and become known for what they do.

That doesn't mean arriving with a following or being expected to generate a book of work from day one.

It's more about having the personality and appetite to build relationships, raise your profile and gradually develop a practice that is increasingly your own.

Who are we looking for?

Around 4+ PQE would be ideal, but ultimately this is about finding someone who can confidently manage their own family caseload and wants to continue developing.

You’ll probably enjoy this role if you:

  • Like having autonomy over your own matters
  • Want good-quality work but still value having senior expertise around you
  • Enjoy meeting people and developing professional relationships
  • Want the opportunity to build your own reputation in Norwich
  • Value flexibility and a sensible approach to work-life balance
  • Are looking for somewhere you can continue progressing rather than simply making a sideways move

And the benefits are genuinely strong

Alongside competitive remuneration, the package includes:

  • Unlimited paid time off
  • Hybrid and agile working
  • 6% employer pension contribution
  • Life Assurance at 3x salary after probation
  • Permanent Health Insurance
  • Enhanced maternity and sick pay
  • Health cash plan
  • Employee Assistance Programme and wider wellbeing support
  • Professional subscriptions, practising certificate and CPD costs covered
  • In-house Learning & Development and leadership programmes
  • Support for further qualifications
  • Cycle to Work and car lease schemes
  • Discounted gym membership

Could this be the move that gives you more room to grow?

This could particularly suit someone who has reached the point where they don't just want to be given more files.

You may want more visibility, more autonomy and the opportunity to establish yourself in the Norwich market, while still having the security, expertise and client base of a substantial regional firm behind you.

And if the role appeals but you're wondering whether your experience is quite the right fit, don't rule yourself out. I'd be very happy to have a confidential conversation and help you decide whether it's worth exploring.
