We’re working with a highly respected, charitable organisation seeking a Legal Support Officer to join its in‑house legal team on a maternity cover contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to broaden their experience across data protection, legal administration, property matters and compliance within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The team is looking for someone who can quickly become a trusted member of the department, taking ownership of a small caseload while supporting solicitors and legal professionals across a range of interesting and meaningful work.

The Role

Working closely with the Head of Legal and wider legal team, you’ll be responsible for a varied workload including:

  • Data Protection & Compliance: Assisting with Subject Access Requests (DSARs), supporting the management of data breaches and related processes, maintaining records and documentation, responding to routine data protection enquiries, assisting with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, supporting meetings and preparing minutes where required.
  • Legal & Property Support: Managing a small caseload of straightforward legal matters, assisting with residential tenancy and licence matters, supporting property transactions and post‑completion processes, preparing and drafting correspondence and legal documentation, assisting with file management, archiving and digitisation projects, supporting legal officers with matter management systems and case administration.
  • Legal Operations & Administration: Creating and maintaining records on the case management system, arranging meetings and coordinating diaries, answering enquiries and directing requests appropriately, preparing documents for signature and execution, assisting with reporting and record keeping, supporting wider legal and governance projects as required.

About You

  • Experience working within a legal, compliance or professional services environment.
  • A good understanding of data protection legislation and principles.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Experience in property law would be advantageous but is not essential.
