They believe in freedom, flexibility, and genuine enjoyment in the legal profession - no billable hour targets, no micromanagement, no burnout. Just smart, capable solicitors trusted to do their work well, in a way that works for them. This is a unique opportunity to take control of your legal career, earn more, work less, and enjoy life again - all while having the backing of a supportive, modern firm that truly values you as a person.
The Role: Consultant Solicitor
This isn’t your typical role — it’s a chance to design your practice on your own terms:
- Set your own schedule – Work when it suits you.
- Choose your workload – Take on the caseload that aligns with your lifestyle.
- Decide your practice area – Focus on the legal work you love (excludes residential property, crime, and legal aid funded work).
- Work from anywhere – Home, abroad, or from hot desks in Leeds, Manchester, and London.
- Grow if you want to – Build your own team or run a simple solo practice.
You’ll have access to:
- A fully supported back-office function
- Compliance and administrative support
- Professional indemnity insurance
- A collaborative, friendly network of fellow consultant solicitors
- Meeting rooms and drop-in space when needed
- No time-recording, no timesheets, and no pressure to attend pointless meetings.
Where You'll Work
Anywhere you like! Whether you want to work from home, a local café, a tropical island, or drop into hot desk locations in Leeds, Manchester, or London, the choice is entirely yours. This role is remote-first with physical facilities available if you want them.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re interested in experienced solicitors who are ready to embrace a more flexible, fulfilling way of working. You’ll need:
- At least 5–6 years PQE - up to any level
- Solid experience in your area of legal practice
- An interest in consultancy and working independently
- A proactive approach and the ability to manage your own workload
- A strong client following (preferred, not essential – a following will help you hit the ground running) great contacts and plans can be enough!
We’re especially keen to speak to lawyers working in:
- Family Law
- Employment Law
- Commercial
- Private Client
- Regulatory or Fraud
Excluded areas: Residential Conveyancing, Crime (except regulatory/fraud work), Legal Aid funded work
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Value autonomy and trust
- Want to enjoy your legal career again
- Are done with rigid structures and long hours
- Are self-motivated but want to feel supported - not managed
What You Can Expect
Take home 75% of your billed fees. Earn more while working fewer hours – e.g., bill £100–120k and take home a significantly higher net income than at traditional firms. Zero billing pressure – you can take 3 to 12 months to build your practice without having to meet any targets. Genuine flexibility – no business plans required, no monthly KPIs. Freedom to scale – grow a team or stick with a lifestyle practice.
The Culture
This firm gets it. You’re a grown-up, a professional, and a person with a life outside of law. They trust you to know what works best for you and give you the freedom and support to make that happen. You won’t be micromanaged. You won’t be pushed into roles or practice areas that don’t excite you. You will be valued, encouraged, and supported - without the pressure, politics, or burnout. Their message to you is simple: You are enough. You’re allowed to enjoy your career. We’re here to help, not to hover.
