3–8 PQE | Top 100 Firm | High-Profile Employer Work

There aren't many opportunities in Ipswich where you can combine high-quality national employment work with the support of one of the UK's largest employment law teams, while working day to day in a friendly local office alongside two highly experienced Employment Partners. This is one of them. The firm's Ipswich office has now been established for over six months and is thriving. They are looking for another Employment Solicitor to become part of the team and continue its growth.

For someone at around 3–8 PQE who wants excellent work, experienced people to learn from and a genuinely enjoyable team around them, there is a lot to like here.

Why is this different?

  • Two Employment Partners in the Ipswich office: You won't be joining a satellite office and trying to build relationships with senior colleagues based elsewhere. Two experienced Employment Partners are based in Ipswich and you'll work closely alongside them. That means access to senior expertise, collaboration on complex matters and people around you to bounce ideas off.
  • One of the UK's biggest Employment teams: While your day-to-day environment has the friendliness and connection of the Ipswich office, behind you is the expertise and resource of one of the largest specialist Employment teams in the UK, within a Top 100 law firm.
  • Some genuinely impressive clients: The work is predominantly employer-side, advising a broad and impressive client base which includes some very high-profile organisations.

What will you be doing?

You'll have exposure to the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law, which could include:

  • Day-to-day strategic and HR advice to employers
  • Employment Tribunal litigation
  • Disciplinary, grievance and capability matters
  • Redundancies and restructuring
  • TUPE and business transfers
  • Employment contracts, policies and settlement agreements
  • Complex and sensitive employee issues
  • Working with the Partners on higher-value and more complex matters

There will also be plenty of client contact, giving you the opportunity to build your own relationships rather than simply working behind the scenes.

Who are they looking for?

Ideally, you will be an Employment Solicitor around 3–8 PQE with a good grounding in employment law. Employer-side experience would be particularly useful, but just as important will be your approach. This is a friendly, supportive and collaborative team, so they want someone who enjoys working with other people, sharing ideas and being part of an office rather than operating in isolation. You’ll need good technical skills, commercial awareness and the confidence to develop relationships with employer clients.

Ipswich office

The Ipswich office is fully established. The firm wants people to benefit from actually being together in the Ipswich office, particularly given the opportunity to work directly alongside the two Partners and the wider local team. There could still be an element of hybrid working, but this would particularly suit someone who sees being around experienced colleagues as a benefit rather than an obligation.

What will you get in return?

  • High-quality employer-side employment work
  • Exposure to some very high-profile clients
  • Two experienced Employment Partners working alongside you in Ipswich
  • The backing of one of the UK's largest Employment teams
  • The resources and opportunities of a Top 100 law firm
  • A supportive, friendly and genuinely collaborative environment
  • Continued technical and career development
  • An established Ipswich office that is continuing to grow
  • Hybrid working alongside meaningful office-based collaboration

Could this be your next move? If you're an Employment Solicitor in or around Ipswich, this is worth looking at even if you haven't been actively considering a move. Opportunities to do this calibre of employment work locally, with two experienced Partners sitting alongside you and the backing of such a substantial specialist team, don't come along every day.

If this has caught your attention, don't rule yourself out because you aren't sure you meet every requirement. I'd be very happy to have a confidential conversation and help you decide whether it's worth exploring. All conversations are confidential and focused on understanding your aspirations.
