2+ PQE | Norwich | Solicitor or Associate | Hybrid Working

We are looking for a Solicitor or Associate from around 2+ PQE to join the Insolvency & Restructuring team of a large and highly regarded regional firm.
What makes this particularly attractive at this stage of your career is the team around you. You will work beneath an experienced Partner who leads the practice, alongside two Senior Associates who have substantial insolvency experience of their own.
This is a team where insolvency isn't simply something people occasionally deal with alongside general litigation. It is a genuine specialism.

The team handles both contentious and non-contentious corporate and personal insolvency, acting for a wide variety of stakeholders.
Clients include:
- Licensed Insolvency Practitioners and office holders
- Companies and directors
- Creditors
- Individuals facing bankruptcy
- Spouses and family members affected by bankruptcy proceedings
- Employees and other stakeholders
The work is technically interesting, often sensitive and rarely repetitive.
Depending on your existing experience, you could be involved in matters including:
- Corporate restructuring and insolvency
- Bankruptcy and personal insolvency
- Statutory demands and bankruptcy petitions
- Winding-up petitions
- Directors' duties and claims arising from insolvency
- Directors' disqualification proceedings
- Company restorations
- Contentious work for and against office holders
- Complex debt recovery through insolvency proceedings
- Property issues arising from insolvency
- Wider commercial disputes connected with distressed businesses
The team takes a practical and commercial approach, recognising that clients facing insolvency issues often need more than an explanation of the law. They need someone who understands what they are trying to achieve and can help them find a realistic route through a difficult situation.
The people around you are a real selling point
For someone at 2, 3 or 4 PQE, there is considerable value in joining a team with this depth of specialist experience.
The Partner leading the team is both a solicitor and qualified insolvency practitioner (non-appointment taking) and is actively involved with R3, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.
You’ll also work alongside two experienced Senior Associates, both specialising in insolvency and restructuring.
That gives you access to different perspectives, significant technical expertise and people who can help you develop your judgement, rather than expecting you to work everything out alone.
Who are we looking for?
We’re deliberately keeping the level relatively flexible.
You could be a Solicitor from around 2 PQE, looking to deepen your insolvency experience, or an Associate who already has a good grounding in the area and wants a stronger specialist platform.
You may already have a predominantly insolvency-focused practice, or perhaps have developed relevant experience through commercial litigation, property disputes, debt recovery or restructuring work.
What’s important is that you have enough relevant experience to contribute to the team, alongside a genuine desire to develop further within Insolvency & Restructuring.
You’ll ideally be:
- Technically capable and keen to keep learning
- Comfortable with both complex legal issues and the human realities behind them
- Commercial and pragmatic in your advice
- A clear and confident communicator
- Able to take increasing ownership of your own matters
- Collaborative and happy working closely with senior colleagues
- Interested in building a long-term specialism in this area
Norwich really matters for this one
The core Insolvency & Restructuring team is based in Norwich, and there is a real benefit to being there alongside them.
Ideally, you’ll also be Norwich based.
There can be flexibility for someone based elsewhere, but you would need to be able to spend a minimum of two days each week in the Norwich office.
Particularly at this stage of your career, having regular access to a Partner and two experienced Senior Associates is a significant part of what makes the opportunity valuable.
