Bury St Edmunds | NQ–6 PQE | HybridFor an Employment Solicitor looking for good quality work, experienced people to learn from and genuine flexibility, this is a strong Suffolk opportunity. I am working with a well-regarded firm in Bury St Edmunds whose Employment team has an excellent regional reputation and Legal 500 recognition. They are open-minded on level, considering lawyers from NQ through to around 6 PQE, with the role shaped to reflect your experience. You won't be expected to arrive knowing everything. At the more junior end, you'll work closely with experienced Associates and Partners, building your confidence and taking on greater responsibility as you develop. If you're more experienced, there is plenty of scope to manage matters independently and develop your client relationships and profile.
A genuinely varied Employment practice
One of the attractions here is the breadth of the work. The team advises both businesses and individuals, giving you exposure to employment issues from different perspectives rather than restricting you to one type of client.
Your caseload could include:
- Contentious and non-contentious employment matters
- Employment Tribunal claims
- Employment contracts, policies and procedures
- Settlement agreements
- Disciplinary, grievance and dismissal issues
- Redundancy and restructuring
- TUPE and the employment aspects of corporate transactions
- Post-termination restrictions
- General day-to-day employment and HR advice
You’ll have direct client contact and the opportunity to become involved in matters from an early stage, while having experienced lawyers around you when you need them.
More than just fee earning
This could particularly appeal if you want to build a rounded career rather than simply work through a caseload. As you develop, there will be opportunities to build relationships with clients, attend networking events, present on employment law topics and become involved in business development.
The team values lawyers who can combine sound technical advice with commercial awareness and a practical approach.
Who could this suit?
We're interested in hearing from Employment Solicitors from NQ to around 6 PQE.
You might be newly qualified following a strong employment seat, or already have several years of experience and be looking for a firm where you can continue progressing without sacrificing flexibility.
Experience of TUPE, corporate support work, restrictive covenants or advising across different sectors would all be useful, but you certainly don't need to tick every box.
You’ll need to be someone who communicates well, enjoys client contact, works collaboratively and takes responsibility for keeping matters moving.
The working environment matters too
The firm offers up to50/50 hybrid working arrangement, allowing up to half of your working time to be spent at home.
You’ll also benefit from:
- Free parking at the Bury St Edmunds office
- Wellbeing initiatives
- Regular social events
- A supportive team environment
- Access to experienced Associates and Partners
- High-quality, Legal 500 recognised employment work
- Opportunities to develop your technical skills, client relationships and wider profile
For someone who wants to develop a strong Employment Law career in Suffolk while retaining a sensible degree of flexibility, there is a lot here to like.
