Our client, a leading Energy company, is seeking a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join their team in Basingstoke. As an SAP, you will be responsible for executing construction and asset replacement projects on 33kV - 132kV distribution networks. This role requires a flexible approach, strong technical knowledge, and a positive safety culture to ensure the successful completion of time-critical work for clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organise and execute HV switching, isolation, earthing, and identification of the point of work on HV networks up to 132kV.
- Prepare switching programs and system alteration forms.
- Ensure 100% accurate execution of operational schedules on site and issue safety documentation to construction teams.
- Undertake spiking of HV cables and pressure testing of new/modified plant.
- Provide sound technical support to construction teams.
- Ensure safety from the system and maintain a positive working culture within the team.
- Commission and operate electrical plant and equipment within electricity substations.
- Plan and organise scopes of work on behalf of clients.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Proven track record as an SAP within a recognised utilities/HV power contractor or a client-side DNO.
- Hold or have held authorisations within any of the UK's DNOs within the last 12 months.
- Thorough understanding of working under a DNO's control and experience of switching systems.
- HNC in a relevant electrical or engineering discipline or demonstrable practical experience.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with overhead lines, underground cabling, and substation components/equipment/systems.
- Good knowledge/experience of ring and radial systems is preferable.
- Familiarity with National Model Distribution Safety Rules and their interpretation.
- Confident and authoritative in carrying out SAP duties.
- Experience in the Power Distribution arena, especially with SSEN DNO.
- Possession of a current Senior Authorised Person certificate on an existing Distribution Network Owners System.
- HNC in Electrical Engineering and safety-related qualifications are desirable.
