We have an opportunity for a Reinstatement Operative to join our operational team, supporting framework activities across the local area. The role will focus on delivering high-quality permanent repairs within highway and utility environments. Working alongside supervisors, team leaders, and operational teams, you will play an important role in ensuring reinstatement works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with required industry standards.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out reinstatement activities following excavation works, ensuring surfaces are restored to specification while maintaining a strong commitment to health, safety, and quality. Here are some of the activities you will be involved in:
- Carrying out reinstatement, including relaying slabs, kerbs, block paving, and modular surfacing
- Completing reinstatement works in line with SROH (Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways) standards
- Installing and maintaining Signing, Lighting and Guarding (SLG) in accordance with Chapter 8 requirements
- Supporting excavation and backfill activities where required
- Ensuring work areas are kept safe, clean, and organised at all times
- Using plant, tools, and equipment safely and responsibly
- Assisting with material handling, site preparation, and waste management
- Capturing site information and supporting accurate completion of work records
- Working collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and site management to meet programme requirements
- Maintaining a professional approach when interacting with clients and members of the public
We would love to hear from you if…
You have previous experience in reinstatement works. Experience working within utilities, highways, or civil engineering environments is highly desirable. You will have a good understanding of safe working practices, take pride in delivering quality workmanship, and be comfortable working outdoors as part of a team in a fast-paced operational environment. A valid Streetworks (NRSWA) qualification is essential, along with a full UK driving licence. You should demonstrate a strong awareness of health and safety requirements and the ability to follow instructions while working independently when required. Essential certifications include Cat & Genny awareness, and relevant health and safety training. Additional qualifications such as Manual Handling, Safe Excavation, First Aid, Water Hygiene, or Asbestos Awareness would be advantageous.
