People who enjoy getting things done and want to develop their experience in the world of utilities. We’re looking for a Water Meter Fitter Team Leader to join our Anglian Water Alliance team. This is a hands-on, field-based role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors in all weathers, leading a small team and delivering high-quality work safely and efficiently. You’ll play a key role in the installation of smart water meters, supporting Anglian Water’s commitment to improving efficiency, customer service and sustainability across the network.

The Role

As a Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for leading and supporting your team on site, ensuring work is delivered safely, to specification and in line with programme. You’ll balance practical delivery with supervision, setting standards, mentoring others and being the go-to person on site. Here are some of the activities you’ll be involved with:

  • Leading a team carrying out excavation and installation of smart water meters
  • Planning daily activities, allocating tasks and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Carrying out and reviewing risk assessments, method statements and site briefings
  • Ensuring all equipment, tools and vehicles are fit for purpose and properly maintained
  • Maintaining strict compliance with Clancy Group and Anglian Water health, safety and environmental standards
  • Using underground service detection equipment such as CAT & Genny to support safe digging
  • Acting as a mentor and coach for operatives, supporting development and maintaining high standards
  • Completing site records, job paperwork and digital reporting accurately

We would love to hear from you if…

You have previous experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor within utilities, water, civils or construction, and enjoy working in a practical, physically demanding environment. You’ll have a strong awareness of health and safety, confidence leading teams on site, and a proactive, organised approach to getting the job done safely and right first time. A full, clean UK driving licence is essential, and NRSWA (Streetworks) is highly desirable. Experience using CAT & Genny, along with a CSCS card (or equivalent), is beneficial. Experience operating plant or small machinery such as excavators or diggers would also be an advantage.
