As a CAD Technician, you will be supporting the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects by producing high quality drawings and technical information across all stages of design and construction. Working closely with Design Managers, Engineers and the wider project team, you will help develop accurate and buildable design outputs for projects including treatment works, pumping stations, pipelines, rising mains, storage assets and associated civil, structural and MEICA works. This role plays a key part in ensuring design information is issued on time, complies with standards and supports safe and efficient construction.
Here are some of the activities that you'll get involved in:
- Produce and update 2D CAD drawings and models to support waste and water infrastructure projects, including general arrangements, sections details and construction drawings.
- Support multidisciplinary teams by coordinating drawings across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and ICA disciplines.
- Revise and manage drawings in line with design development, technical queries, site feedback and change control processes.
- Ensure drawings comply with company CAD standards, client requirements and water industry standards.
- Assist with the preparation of information for design reviews, constructability assessments and site use.
- Support the Design Manager and Engineers by maintaining drawing registers, issue schedules and document control requirements.
- Incorporate health and safety considerations into design outputs, including clear communication of hazards and constraints where required.
- Respond to design queries and assist with the resolution of clashes or inconsistencies between disciplines.
- Support as built drawing production and information handover at project completion.
- Attend design coordination meetings and site visits as required to support project delivery.
We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate:
- Previous experience working as a CAD Technician or CAD Designer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Highly proficient in using AutoCAD and experience with 3D tools such as Civil 3D, Revit or similar would be advantageous.
- A good understanding of technical drawings, scales, layering conventions and drawing control.
- Able to work accurately to deadlines within a fast paced environment.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with engineers, designers and construction teams.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and document management systems.
- A relevant qualification or training in CAD, engineering or construction (HNC, NVQ or equivalent desirable).
