The predicted salary is between 10 - 13 Β£ per hour.

Part-time, 1 day a week plus holiday cover. The successful candidate will be working in a small team (1 optometrist, 2 optical assistants) providing eye care through the NHS and privately. Reception, dispensing and clinical assistant duties will be shared between the 3 optical assistants. This position requires professionalism, meticulous record keeping and patient confidentiality. The successful applicant may be requested to provide a disclosure.

Responsibilities

  • Receptionist: answer phone, book appointments, data entry, stock ordering, handling of cash and NHS documents.
  • Dispensing optician: customer service, frame measurements, lens measurements, interpretation of prescriptions, spectacle ordering, spectacle repairs.
  • Clinical assistant: visual field screening, prescription analysis, contact lens care instruction and maintaining a clean work environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Self-motivated and able to work alone.
  • Excellent arithmetic skills (A level maths or equivalent preferred).
  • Polite and helpful manner when dealing with customers.
  • Computer literate (word processing, spreadsheets).
