Product Owner (Claims) on behalfofone of the UK's largest insurance-led organisations, providing criticalfinancial protection to consumers across a major national industry.
Thebusiness is partway through a large-scale digital transformation, modernisingits core platforms and ways of working to deliver a faster, smarter claimsexperience.
This role sits right at the centre of that change, workingalongside major transformation partners and cross-functional digital teams.
The successful candidate will own the end-to-end claimsproduct roadmap and drive continuous improvement within an agreed changebudget, balancing near-term system stabilisation with a multi-year roadmaptowards automation, AI-assisted decision making and straight-through processing(STP) for low-complexity claims.
This is a senior, hands-on role that calls fora strong insurance background, covering policies, claims triage, frauddetection and indemnity settlement, paired with genuine curiosity and a bias towardscontinuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with the Consumer Experience Director and Claims Director to define the claimsproduct vision and roadmap, translating business strategy into aprioritised backlog.
- Setting andcommunicating a phased STP strategy with clear milestones and successmetrics, and tracking product-level performance against them.
- Playing a leading rolein the transformation programme, including helping design new operatingmodels and embedding good product practice within the team.
- Maintaining a single, transparent, prioritised backlog as the primary intake point for changerequests and improvement ideas, ensuring documentation is complete and fitfor ongoing continuous improvement.
- Supporting thestructured handover of knowledge, products and delivery ownership from thecurrent Claims system programme into BAU, including planning for retentionand succession within a long-tenured, highly experienced team.
- Identifying andprioritising automation opportunities across the claims lifecycle, andarticulating trade-offs between cost, scope, sequencing, value anddelivery capacity to support decision-making.
- Co-ordinating deliveryacross IT teams within an agile, matrix-managed environment, agreeingclear goals for each delivery cycle and aligning product priorities withavailable capacity and wider IT priorities.
- Ensuring strong productgovernance throughout, particularly as AI capabilities are integrated intoclaims processes.
- Overseeing testing, datamigration and cutover planning for legacy-to-new platform transitions.
- Key Requirements
- Demonstrable Product Owner experience in a digital/IT environment within insurance, ideally ata senior level with 5+ years in claims.
- Confident in presentingto and influencing C-suite stakeholders.
- Solid understanding ofautomation technologies and working knowledge of AI/ML applications ininsurance, along with strong product governance experience.
- Experience working withdata teams to define requirements, interpret model outputs and challengeassumptions.
- Strong grounding in Agile product delivery principles, including roadmap ownership, backlogand demand management, prioritisation frameworks and value-based decisionmaking.
- Understanding of UKinsurance regulation and of governance, risk and compliance requirementsin IT delivery.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent.
