ROLE OVERVIEW
The Technical Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and progressing new business opportunities across the industrial roofing and cladding refurbishment market, managing customer relationships from initial enquiry through site visits and technical discussions to secured order and operational handover. The role combines ownership of both inbound enquiries and self-generated opportunities within a defined territory, maintaining a structured pipeline and delivering reliable forecasts aligned to business targets. A significant part of the role involves visiting customer sites, understanding building condition and refurbishment requirements, and working with technically minded stakeholders to develop practical refurbishment solutions. The role suits candidates already operating in contractor-led, specification-influenced or survey-supported technical sales environments. Success in the role will be measured through forecast accuracy and secured revenue.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and deliver against an agreed annual sales target
- Generate new opportunities
- Manage and progress inbound enquiries through qualification and follow-up
- Conduct site visits to support solution development
- Produce clear specifications and quotations aligned to customer requirements
- Progress quotations through to secured order
- Maintain a structured and accurate opportunity pipeline
- Build relationships with contractors, facilities managers, asset owners and project stakeholders
- Identify repeat and referral opportunities within existing customers
- Work closely with operations to ensure commitments align with delivery capability
- Maintain accurate records within the CRM system
- Represent the business professionally across all customer interactions
CANDIDATE PROFILE
This role requires a commercially capable individual who is comfortable operating in a field-based technical sales environment and confident engaging customers on site to understand refurbishment requirements and develop practical solutions. You will:
- Have a minimum of five years’ experience in a field-based technical or solution-led sales role
- Be confident visiting customer sites and discussing condition-led refurbishment requirements
- Be comfortable progressing opportunities from enquiry through to secured order
- Be able to manage a territory and build pipeline independently
- Be confident working with multiple stakeholders across customer organisations
- Be motivated by targets while maintaining a consultative sales approach
Experience in the following sectors is advantageous:
- Construction services
- Building envelope maintenance
Experience carrying out site surveys or condition-led customer discussions is beneficial but not essential.
