Job Description

To provide an efficient and effective Joinery service with the ability and skills to carry out all associated works involved within the Maintenance Service.

The Joiners key functions include:

  • All Joiner work associated with minor new works.
  • Measuring, cutting, sizing and preparation of timber and components.
  • Organising own work in conjunction with the Coordinator, and deciding on best methodology in the execution of such work.
  • As a representative of the Maintenance Service the Joiner will ensure the Council\’s values are promoted in every aspect of his work, with the remit to provide a seamless high quality response to the customer\’s needs.
  • The Joiner will demonstrate high personal and professional standards, especially in respect of quality and customer service.
  • The post holder will be required to work in tenanted and occupied houses where no other council staff are present.
  • The post holder will be responsible for providing documented evidence and monitoring performance.
  • The post holder will be able to plan his/her own workload to ensure that priority timescales are met.
  • Working out of normal working hours if required for 24 hour cover.
  • The post holder will be required to work in secure locations. This will require an adherence to the rules within the buildings and a degree of sensitivity.
  • The range of work involves being exposed to adverse weather conditions.
  • The post holder will be required to work in Public Buildings and Schools.

This post is considered regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. You will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG update check prior to a formal offer of employment. Please note that if your salary is over £38,000 per annum, you will be required to pay for the cost of this application, which will be deducted from your first pay.
