CLAAS UK at Saxham provides Sales, Service, Parts, IT, Marketing and Accounts support for the dealer network across the UK and Ireland. CLAAS UK is the sole wholesale distributor for all CLAAS machinery in the UK and Ireland. Based at the CLAAS UK Academy, the Team Lead - Technical Training is a pivotal role within the CLAAS UK Academy responsible for learning the commercial training delivery, managing technical instructors and ensuring high standards for the CLAAS brand. This includes operational management, progress monitoring, liaising with customers and the dealer network.
Main duties include:
- Training course development
- Ensure that the team plan and prepare training courses on agricultural machinery and associated technologies and/or related topics for both face to face and virtual training.
- Keep up to date with industry and product developments and trends feeding this back to the team so they can further develop and update training materials.
- Be the strategic lead on the continuous improvement of training programs across the local and global academy networks.
- Work actively with the team to improve the Academy training portfolio.
- Training course delivery
- Deliver training courses on agricultural machinery and associated technologies.
- Assess delegates progress and provide constructive feedback where relevant, escalating to the relevant stakeholder where required.
- Deliver training courses in a safe and effective learning environment.
- Maintain and role model safety standards during training sessions.
- Take a proactive lead in ensuring the standards are maintained in terms of welfare and safeguarding of delegates.
- Actively support and promote equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion to ensure no learner is discriminated against.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Coach and mentor delegates to provide guidance and answer technical questions.
- Lead on positively collaborating with product development and service teams to ensure training content accuracy.
- Proactively role model professional behaviours when liaising with external stakeholders, building strong rapport with delegates, customers and dealers.
- Leadership and Management
- Line manage and support technical instructors, including setting objectives and performance reviews.
- Lead team meetings and drive effective communication across the training functions.
- Support recruitment, induction and mentoring of team members.
- Collaborate across teams effectively working alongside the Head of Academy and other Team Leads.
- Take the lead on supporting continuous professional development for yourself and the team and role model these behaviours.
Your Profile
Qualifications and Requirements:
Essentials:
- Experience of delivering high-quality training and assessing learner progress.
- Strong understanding of agricultural engineering and machinery / engineering practices.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Industry-recognised technical qualification at Level 3 or above.
- GCSE (or equivalent) English & Maths at Level 2 or above.
- Willingness to undertake a Level 4 teaching qualification within 3 years (if not already held).
- Strong IT skills (MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to apply for Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance at Enhanced level.
- Understanding of safeguarding and its application in training environments.
- Ability and willingness to work flexibly.
- Current full driving licence.
- Willingness to travel in UK & Europe.
Desirable:
- Experience in operational management.
- Proven record of curriculum development and quality assurance in an education or training setting.
- Formal teaching qualification.
- Leadership or management qualification.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and funding requirements.
- Ability to use data to inform decision-making and track learner outcomes.
