Your Role In Our Team
Based at the CLAAS UK Academy, the role supports the day-to-day technical, workshop and operational activities that underpin the delivery of high-quality apprentice and technical/sales training. The successful candidate will work closely with Academy Trainers and the wider Academy team to ensure training facilities, equipment and resources are prepared, compliant and fit for purpose. This is a development-focused role on a fixed term contract for 2 years, which is designed to build strong foundations in technical support, workshop operations, health & safety and apprentice engagement, while offering exposure to the wider Academy and apprenticeship landscape.
Working as part of the Academy team, the Academy Technician Trainee will:
- Support the daily operation of the Academy workshop, ensuring it is safe, organised and ready for training delivery.
- Assist with the setup, preparation and reset of workshops and machines for training sessions.
- Support Academy Trainers during practical training activities, ensuring resources and equipment are available and functioning.
- Carry out basic maintenance checks on tools, machinery and equipment, escalating issues where required.
- Support compliance with health, safety and safeguarding requirements across all Academy activities.
- Assist with the supervision of apprentices in the workshop, promoting safe working practices and professional behaviours.
- Contribute to the management and organisation of Academy resources, including tools, consumables and equipment.
- Support Academy and apprenticeship administration tasks where required, including course preparation and learner tracking.
- Take part in Academy events and activities such as inductions, assessments and graduations.
- Engage positively in training and development activities to build technical knowledge, confidence and capability.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as required by the Academy.
Your Profile
Qualifications/Requirements:
Essential:
- Background or strong interest in engineering and/or agriculture.
- Willingness to work towards enhanced DBS clearance.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a workshop environment.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills (e.g. email, Microsoft Office).
Desirable:
- An engineering or agricultural qualification (or working towards one).
- Experience supporting others in a learning or mentoring environment.
- Knowledge of health & safety requirements in a workshop setting.
