Are you an experienced Commercial Account Executive looking for the freedom to build a profitable book without being tied down by layers of corporate red tape?

CKB Recruitment is delighted to be working with a fast-growing and highly ambitious independent insurance broking group that is looking to add a Commercial Account Executive to its expanding team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a genuinely entrepreneurial business with impressive long-term growth plans, led by an ambitious and highly regarded owner who is committed to creating an environment where talented insurance professionals can thrive.

The Opportunity

The business currently controls approximately £7 million GWP and has a close-knit team of 15 people.

It has ambitious plans to grow considerably over the coming years, making this an excellent time to join and play a meaningful role in its next chapter.

You will focus on developing the commercial insurance side of the business, generating new opportunities, building strong client relationships and creating a profitable portfolio.

The company is looking for someone who can begin writing new business from the outset.

Bringing an existing book or portfolio of clients would be highly attractive, although it is not essential.

What is essential is that you can demonstrate a clear and credible business plan showing how you will generate opportunities and develop your book.

This is not a heavily managed position. You will be trusted to manage your own activity, build relationships in your own way and take ownership of your results.

You will work closely with a down-to-earth and approachable Managing Director who is keen to offer genuine flexibility and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and convert new commercial insurance opportunities
  • Develop a profitable book of commercial clients
  • Build long-term relationships with clients and prospects
  • Identify cross-selling and account-development opportunities
  • Create and deliver a structured business-development plan
  • Understand clients' businesses and provide appropriate insurance solutions
  • Negotiate effectively with insurers
  • Maintain accurate records and manage your pipeline
  • Work collaboratively with the wider broking team
  • Deliver consistently high standards of client service
  • What We Are Looking For

To be considered, you will need

  • At least three years' experience within commercial insurance
  • Proven experience in a sales, development or Account Executive role
  • A strong understanding of commercial insurance products
  • The ability to generate and convert new business
  • A clear strategy for building a profitable client portfolio
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • A professional, driven and self-motivated approach
  • The confidence to work independently
  • The ability to establish lasting client relationships and generate repeat business
  • To be based in Yorkshire or within a reasonable travelling distance

Experience using Acturis would be preferred.

Candidates who are working towards their CII qualifications will also have a distinct advantage, although this is not essential.

  • What Is On Offer
  • Salary of £45,000 - £65,000, depending on experience
  • Additional bonus linked to growth
  • Genuine autonomy over how you develop your book
  • Flexibility from an approachable leadership team
  • The opportunity to join an ambitious independent broker
  • A key role within a rapidly growing commercial business
  • Excellent long-term career prospects
  • The opportunity to make a visible impact rather than becoming another number
  • Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Commercial Account Executive who wants to build something, influence the direction of a growing brokerage and be properly rewarded for the business they generate.
