Are you an experienced Commercial Insurance professional looking for more than simply another broking job? Perhaps you enjoy building genuine client relationships and delivering excellent service, but you are tired of heavily targeted environments, rigid hierarchies or businesses where culture is discussed more than it is demonstrated. We are delighted to be working with a highly successful insurance broker that is looking to appoint a Corporate Client Adviser to join its established team. This is a genuinely culture-first business.
Technical ability is important, but personality, attitude and values are every bit as significant. The company wants to recruit someone who will support their colleagues, care about their clients and genuinely buy into what the business is trying to achieve. Employing around 75 people, the business has created an open, collaborative and refreshingly uncorporate working environment. It has a flat reporting structure, a caring and approachable leadership team and a strong belief that people perform at their best when they feel valued, supported and included.
The Opportunity: You will join a Corporate Insurance team of seven, working closely with experienced Client Directors and Managers to service and retain a portfolio of larger and more complex commercial clients. You do not necessarily need extensive corporate insurance experience. The business would be equally interested in speaking with someone who has strong larger SME or mid-market experience and is ready to progress into the corporate market. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your technical knowledge, work with more complex clients and develop within a business that has an excellent record of retaining both its clients and its people.
Your Responsibilities: Working alongside the Client Directors and Managers, you will:
- Service and retain an established portfolio of corporate clients.
- Act as a key day-to-day contact for client queries, renewals, amendments and mid-term adjustments.
- Develop a detailed understanding of each client’s business and insurance requirements.
- Handle risks including Material Damage, Liability, Cyber, Management Liability and Professional Indemnity.
- Provide clients and prospects with clear, practical insurance advice.
- Prepare renewal reports, insurer presentations and supporting documentation.
- Discuss and negotiate terms with insurers.
- Maintain accurate client records using Acturis.
- Produce invoices for renewals, adjustments and new business.
- Review policy documentation to ensure accuracy.
- Attend client meetings alongside Client Managers or Directors where required.
- Take ownership of client issues and ensure they are resolved effectively.
- Identify suitable cross-selling opportunities based on genuine client needs.
About You: You will need to have:
- Experience within commercial insurance broking.
- Exposure to larger SME, mid-market or corporate clients.
- Around three to five years’ Client Adviser or Account Handling experience.
- A good understanding of the commercial insurance market and relevant regulations.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management.
- Acturis experience would be beneficial.
- Most importantly, you will be collaborative, dependable and passionate about delivering an excellent client experience.
A Genuine Culture-First Business: People genuinely enjoy working here, with the average length of service currently at 10 years! Colleagues communicate openly, help each other and take a real interest in one another. The team even has an active WhatsApp group where people share holiday pictures, television recommendations and everyday conversation. The company organises quarterly team days and evenings out, alongside a larger annual event. It is professional without being overly corporate, ambitious without becoming cut-throat and successful without losing its personality.
Its values are built around being:
- Credible: Honest, clear and straightforward.
- Energetic: Enthusiastic, committed and passionate.
- Entrepreneurial: Collaborative, responsive and open to new ideas.
- Attentive: Focused on people, relationships and understanding individual needs.
These values are not simply words on a website. They shape how the business treats its clients, supports its employees and decides who joins the team.
Salary and Benefits: Salary between £30,000 and £48,000, depending on experience. Quarterly performance-related bonus. Annual performance-related bonus. Ongoing professional development. Support towards insurance qualifications. Quarterly team events and an annual company celebration. Predominantly office-based in Theale. Four days in the office and one day working from home would be considered. This is primarily an office-based position because the business believes its culture is strongest when people spend time together, collaborate and learn from one another.
If you are looking for a business where you will be trusted, supported and valued as an individual, this is an opportunity well worth exploring. Apply today for a confidential conversation.
