CKB Recruitment is working with an insurance broker to recruit a Commercial Insurance Sales Handler for its SME telephony team in Croydon.

This is an opportunity to put your commercial insurance knowledge and relationship-building skills to work in a role covering new business, renewals and customer enquiries. You ll be rewarded for delivering sales results alongside high standards of customer service.

The role

You ll help small and medium-sized businesses protect their assets and liabilities, guiding customers through their insurance options and providing clear, helpful advice over the telephone.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Handling incoming sales calls and customer enquiries.

• Preparing and issuing quotations, new business and renewal documentation.

• Following up leads and making outbound calls to convert opportunities.

• Understanding customers insurance requirements and arranging appropriate cover.

• Working towards individual and team sales and retention targets.

• Building existing customer relationships and identifying opportunities to develop their business.

• Maintaining positive relationships with insurers and underwriters.

• Keeping accurate records and meeting service, quality and compliance standards.

What we re looking for

Ideally, you ll bring around two years commercial insurance experience, gained within an insurance broker or a relevant insurance sales environment.

You ll also have:

• A good understanding of commercial insurance products and the UK insurance market.

• A confident, professional telephone manner and the ability to build rapport.

• Experience working towards sales targets while keeping customers needs central to your approach.

• Strong organisation and attention to detail when managing enquiries, quotations and follow-ups.

• Experience using insurance e-trading platforms. Acturis would be an advantage, but isn t essential.

• A CII FIT qualification, or a willingness to work towards it.

Salary and benefits

• Circa £30,000 basic salary.

Working hours and hybrid arrangements

Hours are Monday to Thursday, 9am 5.30pm, and Friday, 9am 5pm.

The current hybrid pattern includes three office days each week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The business would ideally want someone who is open to attending the office more frequently when needed.
