Are you an experienced insurance professional who enjoys taking ownership of a book of business, building strong client relationships and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes? CKB Recruitment is delighted to be working with a rapidly growing independent insurance broking group that is looking to appoint an experienced Account Handler to its team near Banstead. This is an exciting time to join the business. The group currently looks after approximately £17 million in gross written premium, with this expected to exceed £20 million by the end of the year—and further growth firmly on the agenda.

The role will initially focus on supporting the integration of a newly acquired book of business. You will take ownership of transferring the clients into the wider group, managing their ongoing insurance requirements and helping to ensure a seamless transition.

The acquired book contains a mixture of commercial and personal lines business, so ideally you will have experience across both areas. A key part of the position will involve transferring data from Open GI onto Acturis. Previous experience using both systems would therefore be extremely useful, although strong Acturis experience is the main priority.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of an established book of commercial and personal lines clients
  • Supporting the successful integration of the acquired business
  • Transferring and checking client and policy information from Open GI to Acturis
  • Ensuring records are accurate, complete and compliant
  • Managing renewals, mid-term adjustments and general policy administration
  • Speaking with clients to understand their requirements and provide a high level of service
  • Obtaining quotations and negotiating terms with insurers
  • Preparing renewal presentations and policy documentation
  • Identifying opportunities to improve cover or introduce additional products
  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure clients experience a smooth transition
  • Developing trusted, long-term relationships with clients and insurer partners

About you

To be considered, you should have:

  • Previous insurance account handling experience
  • Experience dealing with commercial insurance
  • Some personal lines experience would be highly advantageous
  • Strong working knowledge of Acturis
  • Experience using Open GI would be beneficial
  • The confidence to take responsibility for a book of business
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Strong client service and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervision
  • A positive, adaptable approach to change and business growth

You will ideally live within a sensible commuting distance of Banstead.

Why consider this opportunity?

You will be joining a successful and ambitious independent broking group with genuine momentum behind it. The business has partner status with Aviva, Allianz and Intact, alongside excellent relationships with a broad range of leading insurance markets. This gives its people access to strong insurer support and the ability to provide clients with competitive, well-structured solutions. As the group continues to grow through both acquisition and organic development, there should also be plenty of opportunity for the successful person to develop their responsibilities and career over time.

What’s on offer?

  • Salary of £30,000–£38,000, depending on experience
  • Contributory pension
  • Group Permanent Health Insurance
  • The opportunity to take ownership of an established book of business
  • A varied role covering commercial and personal lines
  • Access to a strong panel of leading insurers
  • A stable, growing and ambitious independent broking environment
  • Genuine scope to develop as the wider group continues to expand

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Account Handler who enjoys responsibility and would like to play an important role in the continued growth of a successful independent insurance group. If you have strong Acturis knowledge and the confidence to take ownership of a mixed book of business, we would love to hear from you.
