Our clients' growing Digital and Risk Advisory Services team deliver internal audit, advisory and Third-Party Assurance (TPA) engagements to a wide range of clients. Their growing TPA team help build trust between their clients and their stakeholders through providing independent assurance over diverse subject matter. Trust is a key pillar of our clients' brand which underpins their organisational culture and how our clients perceive us in the market.

This role is all about delivering TPA engagements and related advice to a wide range of clients operating across various sectors and supporting them in preparing to meet upcoming reporting and assurance requirements. It is an opportunity for an experienced individual with strong assurance and consulting skills to help them fulfil their obligations to wider stakeholders.

Building on your existing knowledge of TPA reporting standards (ISAE, AAF 01/20, SOC1/2, ISRS etc), they will invest in developing your understanding of what it really means for clients' businesses so that you can deliver assurance and advice that is meaningful to their clients and fulfilling to you. The work you will undertake will be a mixture of independent assurance assessments of varying subject matter including complex criteria and requirements, as well as forward-looking advisory projects to help clients succeed in preparedness for assurance in the future. There will also be the opportunity for involvement in ESG-related assurance due to evolving assurance standards and the regulatory reporting landscape.

You will be involved in overseeing multiple concurrent projects with teams of varying sizes, supporting clients at varying stages of their reporting journey under the various international and localised reporting standards ensuring clients' reporting is subject to independent assurance in line with quality requirements. You will be leading projects and supporting the overall growth of our TPA team and delivery capabilities and have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients. You will play an important role in developing and maintaining deep client relationships and in developing members of the team. You will have the opportunity to further develop specialist sub-sector, technical and regulatory knowledge and be involved in both business and team development.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical expertise to the DRAS team on TPA reporting matters including contributing to technical updates, support in planning discussions, issue resolution, developing frameworks/methodologies in relation to evolving frameworks/topics and training of staff.
  • Leading on and overseeing assurance reviews providing support to junior team members and being key client conduits for all communication.
  • Oversight and responsibility for a growing portfolio of client projects covering a mixture of sizes, industries and complexity.
  • Ownership of growing junior team across this portfolio and providing on-the-job training for our graduate and junior resources utilised on assurance projects.
  • Representing the firm at client meetings and leading senior management committee meetings.
  • Involvement in key activities, which may include recruitment, forecasting, people management, resource utilisation, quality assurance etc.
  • Commercial oversight of engagements to ensure they are managed within budget and the client is appraised throughout.
  • Actively assisting with identifying and realising the business development opportunities through marketing, recruitment and training, and development of methodologies.
  • Leading on proposal projects for prospective clients; including preparing a no/go assessment of the opportunity, coordinating stakeholders, formal pitch delivery to senior client stakeholders as required.
  • Oversight and accountability for client projects, ensuring projects are well managed and commercially viable by budgeting effectively, billing clients promptly and discussing inefficiencies/overruns in a timely manner.
  • Active consideration of possible business opportunities for the team and bringing them to the attention of the Director and Partner.
  • Attending networking events and conferences to ensure knowledge and skills remain up-to-date and to promote BDO's services where appropriate.

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • External or internal audit or regulatory assurance or advisory work experience.
  • Experience in delivering work under recognised assurance standards (ISAE, AAF 01/20, SOC1/2 etc) and the ability to review varying subject matter & criteria to determine appropriate assurance approach.
  • Have undertaken & led complex and large assurance assignments and have an understanding of review methodologies and techniques including assignment planning and risk assessments.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), ability to influence, lead, engage, and manage stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead complex reviews including managing a team of managers and junior staff members, performing final review of files, key deliverables and ensuring file quality meets assurance, ISQM1 and internal requirements for quality.
  • Understanding of risk management and internal control, importantly how this is applied in an assurance capacity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong project management skills and a track record of successful delivery.
  • Expertise in leading and developing teams successfully.
