Our global client is seeking to recruit a Senior Manager with a focus on the insurance sector to join their technical practice in a role within its financial reporting advisory technical team. As experts on a wide number of issues, their technical practice provides support to their specialists in audit/assurance and other business streams. From being on-hand to help with complex enquiries, to implementing and advising on policy and processes, technical are the people finding solutions to some of their teams most complex technical issues.
As part of this supportive and knowledgeable team, you'll have a chance to use and develop your technical skills and experience, find solutions to technical queries, and contribute daily to the firm's commitment to deliver high quality output.
About You:
- You’ll be comfortable working pro-actively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners.
- You’ll help deliver accurate and transparent reporting to all relevant stakeholders as you provide long term value.
- Working in a growing team, you will undertake work in all areas of technical financial reporting, primarily supporting the audit stream.
- The role would be particularly suited to an individual with experience of working within the technical department of another major firm of accountants, in an advisory role assisting audit teams in the accounting analysis of complex transactions involving financial instruments including managing and performing advisory projects, or an experienced financial services/insurance auditor who is looking to move into a technical role and is able to demonstrate a strong technical aptitude.
In this role you will:
- Work with managers, senior managers, directors and partners within both the technical practice, the audit stream and across the wider firm.
- Maintain and encourage an open and constructive environment in which to provide technical support and advice.
- Bring pre-existing technical knowledge and experience to the FRA team, lead and contribute to all output areas.
- Provide support and supervision to the more junior team members.
- Technical review of a personal portfolio of annual reports of financial services companies, working with the audit team to confirm compliance with financial reporting standards, company legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Providing clear and practical solutions to technical financial reporting queries, and act as a consultant for the more junior members of the team.
- Preparing and presenting financial reporting training, updates and seminars both internally and externally.
- Helping to develop financial reporting tools and guidance for application by the firms partners and staff.
- Writing articles and other publications on financial reporting matters for internal and external communications.
- Assisting with the preparation of draft responses to external consultations in relation to legal, regulatory, and financial reporting matters.
- Monitoring external developments in financial reporting areas, reporting back to the team and developing an appropriate action plan where required.
- Supporting and coaching the more junior members of the FRA team.
You’ll be someone:
- Be ACA/ICAS qualified or overseas equivalent.
- Be a manager or senior manager in a technical team or working in audit having a strong interest in and knowledge of IFRS.
- Have practical experience of performing technical reviews of annual reports of listed companies.
- Exhibit a strong working knowledge of IFRSs, UK GAAP, and the Companies Act.
- Insurance /FS sector experience; specific skills in/experience of insurance would be an advantage.
- Have a proven ability to apply technical knowledge to complex financial reporting issues and provide practical and supportable solutions.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with an ability to create productive relationships across the firm and network and to influence other senior professionals.
- Be willing to work as part of a close-knit team and as a self-directed individual.
- Be highly motivated and proactive, with a desire to innovate and seek new ways of improving our service to internal customers.
