Job Description
CK Group are recruiting for a QC Scientist, on behalf of a medical diagnostic company. This role will be based at their site in Sunderland and is a permanent role with Mon-Fri day time working hours.Â
The Role:
To undertake relevant Quality Control laboratory duties in a timely and efficient manor as directed by QC procedure and with reference to the QC Manager.
Responsibilities:
- To perform scientific and associated tasks within the QC department, following QC protocols to provide quality control over the range of products.
- To assist the Electrophoresis Manager in the organising of assigned work on a day-to-day basis being aware of the urgency of products and the time taken for tasks to be undertaken to achieve target turnaround times.
- To develop and maintain specialist knowledge of the equipment used within the QC department with respect to regular maintenance and first-line trouble shooting.
- To perform functional external quality assessment testing and subsequent data and report review.
- To develop, maintain and apply theoretical electrophoresis knowledge to support routine QC work, external quality assurance participation and research and development opportunities.
- To work in accordance to Health and Safety and COSHH guidelines when handling reagents and chemicals used in automated and manual techniques. Complying with all statutory and site safety regulations.
- To identify shortcomings or detrimental trends to product performance, raising these with the QC Manager and assisting with appropriate implementation of any resultant action.
- To maintain the stock of retained products.
- Oversight of calibration status of laboratory equipment requiring periodic calibration, ensuring all required documentation is completed and stored appropriately.
- To carry out other duties as directed by the Managing Director.
Your Background:
- BSc within the life-sciences disciplines with 1-2 years of relevant laboratory-based experience.
- Good laboratory practice.
- Good Life Science background.
- Sound knowledge/interest in Electrophoresis.
- Competent in the use of the Internet and Microsoft Windows programs including Word, Excel Power Point, and other statistical analysis software.
- Competent mathematician and statistician.
- Able to work well within a team.
- Good communicator.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to priority plan.
- Able to communicate well with all personnel within the company.Â
