The Role: We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering roofing, external refurbishment and social housing projects across London and the South East. This role is ideally suited to a Quantity Surveyor with experience in roofing, external works, social housing, planned maintenance or framework contracts. Candidates may currently work for a specialist subcontractor or a main contractor but must possess strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to manage projects from tender stage through to final account.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring contracts are delivered profitably while maintaining excellent relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Full commercial management of roofing and external refurbishment projects.
- Preparation and submission of interim valuations.
- Measurement, pricing and agreement of variations.
- Cost reporting, forecasting and budget management.
- Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Support pre-construction and tendering activities where required.
- Work closely with operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations and commercial targets.
Essential Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
- Experience within roofing, external refurbishment, planned maintenance or general construction.
- Experience working for either a roofing/external works subcontractor or a main contractor.
- Strong understanding of valuations, variations, cost control and final accounts.
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement processes.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Highly Desirable Experience
- Social Housing experience.
- Framework contract experience.
- External refurbishment experience.
- Experience working with Housing Associations and Local Authorities.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
- RICS accredited or working towards chartership.
