We are recruiting a dedicated team of Therapeutic Support Workers to provide high-quality, person-centred support to a woman living in her family home in Leamington Spa.
As a Therapeutic Support Worker, you will join a carefully designed, relationship-based support package, working closely with the individual, her family, and a multidisciplinary team. You will deliver consistent, trauma-informed support to help reduce anxiety, minimise behaviours of concern, and empower the individual to lead a fulfilling, meaningful life.
About the Individual
The person you will support is warm, curious, and creative. Her interests include:
- Musical theatre and music
- Disney and anime
- National Theatre productions
- History and films
Building connection and a predictable routine involves sharing these interests in a low-demand, low-pressure way. She is empathetic, emotionally aware, and responds best to staff who are genuine, non-judgemental, and respectful. Every Therapeutic Support Worker on the team is expected to treat her as an equal and support her personal autonomy and choice.
She occasionally experiences psychological challenges linked to trauma and benefits from reflective, calm, and predictable support in a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Therapeutic Support Worker, your main duties will include:
- Providing 1:1 care and support at home and within the local community.
- Supporting participation in valued personal activities, hobbies, and social outings.
- Building and maintaining safe, trusting, and consistent therapeutic relationships.
- Responding calmly, professionally, and consistently during periods of emotional distress or anxiety.
- Maintaining a stable, predictable, and trauma-informed support environment.
- Collaborating effectively with family members and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Working flexibly and adapting support methods as individual needs evolve.
- Engaging actively in specialized training, reflective supervision, and professional development.
Applicant Requirements (Skills and Experience)
- Core Qualities: Compassionate, patient, emotionally resilient, grounded, and self-aware.
- Approach: Respectful of individual choice, autonomy, and personal pacing.
- Experience: Experience supporting individuals with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), neurodivergence, or complex trauma is beneficial, though the key attribute for a Therapeutic Support Worker in this role is strong relational skills and a willingness to learn.
