Human Resources Coordinator (Fixed Term – Maternity Leave)

We are seeking an HR Co-ordinator to cover maternity leave for approximately 7 months (December 2025 – June 2026).

CJ Lang & Son is a family‑owned business operating 100+ SPAR convenience stores across Scotland. Our Central support teams and Distribution centre are based in Dundee. This is a full‑time role working from our Head Office in Dundee.

As HR Co‑ordinator you will work closely with the HR Business Partners and wider team to provide HR support to Store and Distribution centre colleagues. This is a fast‑paced generalist role covering a wide range of duties from administrative tasks, advising colleagues on policies and practices, to answering general employment queries.

What you’ll be doing

  • You will be the first point of contact and responsible for dealing with day‑to‑day queries from colleagues and external parties.
  • Provide HR support on a variety of employee relations cases including investigations, disciplinary’s, probation extension, absence management, flexible working etc.
  • Monitor and advise on short term absence, AWOL, long term absence cases.
  • General administration, letter writing, managing the HR email inbox, electronic filing, maintaining the HR system records, scanning, photocopying, meeting planning, note taking.
  • Recording test purchase audit results and coordinating next steps following any fails.
  • Support with maternity and paternity leave requests.
  • Monitor and oversee right to work data for colleagues on visas.
  • Provide reports on leaver data, holiday, absence rates and other reports relating to HR activities.
  • Provide ad hoc recruitment support as and when required.
  • Travel to stores as and when required to note take and provide HR support at meetings.
  • Support HR and management on projects and initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Previous experience working in a similar HR role (HR Admin, coordinator, officer).
  • Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Ability to build working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and independently.
  • Full driving licence.
