Our staff play a vital role in creating a supportive, inclusive environment where students and colleagues can thrive. br/ br/ Every role at the College contributes to helping people achieve their potential. br/ br/ ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a committed Health, Safety and Environment Manager to support the effective delivery of College services and priorities. br/ br/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In this role you will: br/ br/ Lead H S E strategy delivery br/ br/ – Manage and coordinate delivery of the Colleges Health, Safety and Environmental priorities, policies, and improvement plans, supporting the Director of Finance Resources in achieving strategic objectives. br/ br/ Monitor compliance and performance br/ br/ – Review and assess Health and Safety performance across the College, conduct audits, and recommend/implement changes needed to ensure legal compliance and best practice. br/ br/ Manage risk assessment and incident systems br/ br/ – Ensure risk assessments are fit for purpose (via systems like Smartlog and Evolve), analyse accident/near‑miss data, and oversee critical incident and fire safety procedures. br/ br/ Provide expert advice and reporting br/ br/ – Advise senior leaders, managers, and Governors on H S E matters and legislative changes, and prepare reports (including the Annual Health and Safety Report) for governance committees. br/ br/ Build a positive safety culture br/ br/ – Promote a positive H S E culture through training, guidance, and engagement, while leading initiatives to increase awareness and compliance across the College. br/ br/ Manage external and internal relationships br/ br/ – Liaise with the HSE, Fire and Rescue Service, insurers, and legal advisors, while maintaining good working relationships with Trade Union H S representatives and coordinating H S Committee meetings. br/ br/ Lead the H S team and environmental compliance br/ br/ – Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision to the Health Safety Coordinator, and coordinate environmental compliance arrangements including sustainability and carbon reduction objectives. br/ br/ Carry out duties in line with College policies and procedures, including safeguarding and equality commitments br/ br/ SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE We are looking for someone who can demonstrate: br/ br/ NEBOSH General Certificate br/ br/ – required qualification. br/ br/ Proven H S E track record br/ br/ – demonstrated success implementing and delivering Health, Safety and Environmental improvement initiatives and operational plans. br/ br/ Compliance and legislative knowledge br/ br/ – strong understanding of current H.S.E. legislation and FE sector priorities, with experience raising compliance standards in an organisation. br/ br/ Leadership and people management br/ br/ – excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage staff performance against targets. br/ br/ Communication and influencing skills br/ br/ – able to adapt communication style to build effective relationships internally and externally, including giving/receiving constructive feedback. br/ br/ WHY JOIN US We offer a supportive working environment with opportunities to develop and progress.
