CIWEM is a professional membership organisation, developing careers and competencies for environmental professionals in national and local government, business, academia and charities. We are on a journey to become a leader in global engagement with environmental competency and solutions and we need our Membership Officer to help us get there. As Membership Services Officer, you will be responsible for responding to and dealing with queries relating to CIWEM membership and providing efficient, professional and accurate advice. Your ability to plan and prioritise work is essential in this busy environment, along with demonstrated effective communication skills enabling you to deliver a high standard of customer service. We are looking for someone with a friendly, supportive and collaborative approach to work to play a key role in the promotion, recruitment and registration of members, and be central to the success of the Institution. Key Responsibilities To be a champion of excellent customer service by acting as the first point of contact for telephone and email queries relating to membership of CIWEM, providing accurate and concise information and advice in a polite and timely manner Identify opportunities to strengthen our membership messaging and promotion, working closely with our communications team to coordinate email campaigns Manage individual member records within the CIWEM CRM and help to develop this system to ensure that it meets the current and future needs of CIWEM Support the processing of applications across all grades of membership ensuring these are complete and prepared for assessment Take responsibility for applications for our Student, Apprentice, Graduate, Environmental Partner, Retired grades of membership and IWA joint members Provide support to the Registration Officer with MCIWEM applications and during professional review interviews for Chartered members Work with the Director of Membership and Professional Standards and Head of Membership Services to ensure the timely payment of membership subscription fees Take responsibility for preparing welcome packs for newly accepted Chartered members Support the ongoing maintenance of membership procedure documentation and internal management systems Support the organisation’s compliance with GDPR About You Work on own initiative and as part of team Manage time and resources effectively and efficiently, prioritising where necessary to meet deadlines, and with minimal supervision Develop and maintain effective relationships internally and externally, including with volunteers Commitment to continual improvement – proactive in seeking to improve processes Person Specification Essentials The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills combined with administrative experience of working in a busy office environment Excellent time management, organisational, planning and administrative skills Proficient using Microsoft Office 365 Experience working with CRM systems (ideally CiviCRM) Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and engage effectively within a team as well as networking and promoting CIWEM externally A problem-solving approach to work Excellent written and spoken English with close attention to detail Flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills Desirables Experience in a professional body or equivalent Working knowledge of quality management systems (such as ISO14001) A good understanding of, or interest in, environmental issues41bf1e1f-b16b-4260-a40a-17c77a06fd15
