Overview: Civitas Recruitment are delighted to be working with a leading international organisation focused on climate and energy transition. The organisation is looking for a Programme Manager to join its Programme Management Office and support the delivery of a high-profile Energy Transition programme. This is an initial 12-month fixed term contract suited to someone with strong programme management, financial management and donor compliance experience. The role will focus on effective grant and programme delivery, process improvement, change management and supporting financial inputs for bids, proposals and programme resourcing. This is not a technical accounting role, but it does require confidence with budgets, forecasts, spend reporting, risk and donor/funder requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support planning, resourcing, monitoring and delivery across a portfolio of grants and projects, ensuring work is delivered to scope, budget and agreed timeframes.
- Track, advise on and analyse programme financial performance, including spend against budget, forecasts, burn rate, staff utilisation and areas of financial risk.
- Support future programme resourcing, including pricing, proposal development and the financial elements of bids and donor-funded programmes.
- Maintain and improve programme and grant management tools, processes, guidance and shared working systems, supporting process change across the organisation.
- Provide programme management support to change management and transformation initiatives, ensuring governance documents, risks and actions are well managed.
- Support donor compliance, due diligence, contract management, reporting and funder requirements across complex international programmes.
- Build trusted relationships with internal teams, finance colleagues, programme leads, grant leads, external stakeholders and funders.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will bring experience in programme management, financial management and donor-funded programme delivery, ideally in an international, climate, sustainability, energy transition or not-for-profit setting. You will be commercially aware, organised and comfortable working across complex portfolios, funder requirements, internal finance processes and multiple stakeholders.
- Experience managing organisational programmes and/or international grants, including government or institutional donor grants.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, spend reporting, risk management and programme financial monitoring.
- Experience supporting bids, proposals, pricing, donor compliance and funder reporting from a programme finance perspective.
- Experience of change management, process improvement or transformation work would be highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, matrix-based environment.
