Location: Home based with some domestic travel and infrequent international travel

The Opportunity

Civitas Recruitment are delighted to be working with a growing international environmental charity focused on reducing waste pollution, creating livelihood opportunities and improving public health in low and middle-income countries. The charity works with communities, policymakers, grassroots entrepreneurs and local partners to promote circular economy innovation and practical waste management solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager to play a key role in driving income growth through trusts and foundations, philanthropy and selected corporate partnerships. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the postholder will manage a funding portfolio, develop high-quality proposals and donor reports, and build relationships that support the charity’s next stage of growth. The role will also line manage a Communications Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow income from trusts and foundations, major donors, philanthropic organisations and selected corporate partnerships.
  • Work with the CEO and senior team to shape funding priorities, develop compelling cases for support and deliver ambitious income targets.
  • Build, steward and manage relationships with donors, funders and partners, ensuring excellent engagement and long-term support.
  • Lead on proposal writing, donor reporting, pipeline management and accurate CRM records.
  • Represent the charity externally and identify networking, partnership and supporter development opportunities.
  • Ensure fundraising activity is compliant, ethical and aligned with organisational policies and good practice.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven experience of securing income from at least two of the following areas: trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships or philanthropy. You will be a confident relationship builder with strong written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, persuasive and tailored proposals and reports. You will bring experience of managing fundraising pipelines, working to income targets and collaborating across teams to gather information and communicate impact. Knowledge of fundraising good practice, CRM systems and compliance will be important. Experience within international development, environmental, climate-related or small charity settings would be particularly welcome. We are seeking someone proactive, strategic and delivery-focused, who is comfortable working independently in a home-based role while remaining collaborative across a small and ambitious organisation.
