The predicted salary is between 16800 - 22400 £ per year.

Location: Hybrid in London however flexible working options will be considered.

Salary: £28,000 per annum pro rata (0.4 to 0.5 FTE; 14 to 17.5 hours per week).

Contract: Permanent. Flexible working considered from day one.

The Opportunity

Civitas Charity Recruitment are excited to be working with an established public law charity which focuses on human rights and justice. The charity is seeking a Finance Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations and help ensure teams have the financial support needed to deliver impactful work. This is an exciting time to join, with long-term funding secured and an ambitious strategy underway. You will work closely with the Finance Manager, with scope to develop and progress towards Finance Officer level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day finance operations, including identifying incoming receipts and ensuring expenditure is appropriately authorised.
  • Maintain accurate records: verify, post, allocate and file financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Prepare regular supplier payment runs and manage petty cash, reconciliations and organisational credit cards.
  • Support payroll processing and provide timely, professional responses to internal finance queries.
  • Assist with grant income administration (including restricted grants) and audit preparation by collating relevant documentation.
  • Work with colleagues to process and reconcile event-related income (e.g., online payment providers).

The Candidate

  • Experience supporting day-to-day finance processes and maintaining strong records and controls.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Strong numeracy and ability to complete calculations efficiently and correctly.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; confidence using Excel (e.g., lookups, SUMIFS, basic pivots) is desirable.
  • Organised, with good time management and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative, kind and inclusive team player, aligned with organisational values.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
