Help Shape the UK's Energy Future Traffic Coordinator Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C. As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.
What will you do?
- Traffic & Access Control
- Manage internal traffic flows on haul roads, laydown areas, & construction zones; adjust controls for weather, ground conditions, & programme priorities
- Collate traffic management requests from subcontractors to advise client as & when required of changes
- Ensure compliance from subcontractors & CWA teams for TM requests & planning for the Main Construction Area
- Direct & brief traffic marshals/banksmen to maintain safe movements around workfaces, compounds, & pedestrian interfaces
- Enforce one-way systems, speed limits, segregation, & exclusion zones; ensure correct signage & barriers are in place & maintained
- Delivery Sequencing & Logistics Integration
- Sequence inbound HGVs & plant move with the Delivery Management System (DMS) to prevent bottlenecks, work with subcontractors & CWA teams for high volume deliveries
- Coordinate with Rail/Import & Materials teams to align offloading slots, crane/plant availability, & laydown capacity
- Liaise with Earthworks supervisors to avoid clashes between haul traffic & excavation/compaction activities
- Support abnormal load movements, escort planning, & safe route clearances
- Planning, Briefings & Permits
- Contribute to short interval control and daily/weekly logistics coordination meetings
- Issue daily traffic plans & shift briefings to marshals, drivers, & supervisors (including temporary route changes & constraints)
- Check & control traffic related permit to work, plant movement plans, & lifting interface points
- Monitor WIP areas that impact traffic (e.g. utilities work, temporary works) & implement mitigations
- Work with digital team to create traffic management plans/flows & controls
- Compliance, Safety & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to the project’s HSE standards, life-saving rules, & PPE requirements
- Maintain records for vehicle checks, driver inductions, banksman authorisations, & competency cards
What are we looking for?
Required
- Experience coordinating traffic or site logistics on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of construction traffic management, plant movements, and interface controls with earthworks
- Proven ability to run gatehouse/access operations and manage traffic marshals/banksmen
- Confident communicator with supervisors, drivers, and multiple subcontractors.
- Competent in using delivery booking/management systems and MS Excel for logs and KPIs
Desirable
- Previous experience on regulated or high hazard sites (nuclear, rail, highways, tunnelling, airports)
- Knowledge of temporary works impacts on traffic routes and lifting/cranage interfaces
- Familiarity with UK road regulations affecting site traffic and abnormal loads.
- Understanding of environmental controls: dust suppression, wheel wash, and surface water management
- Exposure to control room operations and short interval control methodologies
