Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future Risk Analyst Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C. As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.
What will you do?
- Support the Section Risk Management Lead in developing and maturing the risk picture for the specific section.
- Support the TOC team in delivery of the TOC programme by ensuring risk management data is as mature as is practicable, ready for modelling.
- Support the wider CWA risk management team in the monthly reporting exercises.
- Assist the wider team in the development of QRA analysis, when required.
- Support the CWA team to achieve its objectives, as directed by the DLT.
- Provide risk management services in support of the Sizewell C portfolio.
Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions
- Provide day‑to‑day management of risk threats and opportunities within one or more Sections of the Alliance and ensure compliance with risk management procedures.
- Prepare and implement the schedule (drumbeat) of the periodic risk management activities.
- Ensure the right people are invited and participate in risk and mitigation reviews.
- Prepare and facilitate meetings, reviews and workshops to identify, analyse and mitigate risks.
- Conduct qualitative, quantitative and business risk assessments to advise risk managers, team and stakeholders.
- Ensure that all risk registers are up to date, that risks are regularly reviewed, and that appropriate risk treatments are in place and acted upon.
- Provide regular reports to project and risk managers on the risk status of sections, offering advice on contingency management.
- Establish and coordinate a register of risk and value management activities.
- Support risk and value management processes in other functional areas of the Alliance.
- Support the risk manager in carrying out schedule and cost risk quantification, risk assurance and risk governance activities.
What are we looking for?
Essential
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills, enabling effective communication with project managers, estimators, planners, engineers and section leaders.
- Ability to work effectively within the Alliance delivery teams and the wider Client programme.
- Expertise in all aspects of project and business risk management facilitation.
- Proficiency in facilitating risk sessions and proactively obtaining risk data updates from relevant individuals and subject matter experts.
- Ability and willingness to learn how to build complex cost, schedule and business risk models using various applications.
- Ability to coach and challenge management and non‑specialists on the process and results of risk management.
- High level of proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail when handling and manipulating datasets, preparing documentation, slides and reports.
- Knowledge of risk management, project management and project control techniques and processes.
Desirable
- Experience working in a major project environment, including familiarity with the commercial, project management, technical and engineering, estimating and planning disciplines.
- Experience with applying Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) techniques and tools, including software such as PRA, @Risk and Safran Risk.
- Experience with risk database tools, such as ARM and Xactium.
- Member of the Institute of Risk Management or hold the Association for Project Management Risk Practitioner certification.
- Degree in a relevant technical or management field or equivalent experience in a risk delivery role for major capital or infrastructure projects.
