Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), you will support the building of Sizewell C, a 3.2‑gigawatt nuclear power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes. The role is within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.

What will you do?

  • Develop and maintain Quality Management plans (business unit/contract quality plans and industry‑specific plans).
  • Challenge systems and processes to ensure best practice and continual improvement.
  • Ensure development, maintenance and application of appropriate content for the BMS to meet business needs.
  • Embed specific project or SBU standards into the BMS and local quality planning.
  • Monitor and report project/SBU business performance relating to quality and drive improvement actions.
  • Investigate and conduct root‑cause analysis to enable corrective actions.
  • Promote awareness of quality policy and BMS quality requirements throughout the business.
  • Coach and develop quality skills across business streams.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other client/industry/project/SBU quality requirements.
  • Provide quality‑related training to support improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with audit functions to support local processes.
  • Support Management System Reviews.
  • Facilitate quality‑related improvement initiatives.
  • Produce reports and management information.
  • Maintain a relentless focus on Zero Harm.
  • Support external accreditation processes (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, industry licences).

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Quality subject‑matter expertise and proven track record in quality management.
  • Confidence working with senior management and challenging existing ways of working.
  • Capacity to provide quality leadership.
  • Strong relationships with delivery teams and project managers.
  • Substantial practical experience in quality management within a divisional or SBU sector.
  • Training and facilitation skills.
  • Either a CQI Member or working towards membership.
  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Previous experience managing a team.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and other modern office computer systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self‑starter with strong time‑management and ability to add value.
  • Team‑oriented and able to influence across the business.
  • Initiative, resilience and ability to command respect.
  • CSCS Card holder.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of UK and international standards and codes of practice for the nuclear sector.
  • Experience in construction environments, with mechanical, civil and electrical knowledge.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A formal qualification in Quality Management (e.g., Diploma in Quality Management, UK Chartered Quality Institute, British Standards Institute or equivalent).
  • Desirable: trained ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor.
