We are recruiting for an exceptional Fire Safety professional to join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) as we deliver Sizewell C, a landmark project set to power 6 million UK homes with reliable, low‑carbon energy for the next 60 years. As part of our extended alliance – with Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke – we are uniting world‑class expertise to set new standards in construction and safety.
In this vital role, you will work alongside the HSW Fire and Emergency Planning Lead to ensure fire safety compliance across all areas of the Sizewell C site. Your input will be instrumental in helping our delivery teams achieve operational excellence while protecting people, assets and the future of UK energy.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Fire and Emergency Planning Lead to drive fire safety across all areas of CWA activity
- Developing, maintaining and continuously improving fire safety processes and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and project demands
- Ensuring our work complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the latest Fire Safety Acts and Regulations, and all relevant construction standards for both temporary and permanent works
- Championing behavioural fire safety, delivering briefings, drills and training, and mentoring junior HSW/Fire Advisors
- Embedding fire prevention and mitigation requirements into project methods, temporary works and construction sequencing in accordance with HSG168 and CDM 2015
- Supporting SZC and CWA in meeting ONR expectations for robust construction fire safety controls
- Analysing fire safety indicators, reporting trends, sharing lessons learned, and supporting incident investigations
- Leading and reviewing fire risk assessments for all CWA areas, ensuring actions are closed and maintained
You’ll bring:
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to engage, influence and promote a positive fire safety culture at all levels across CWA
- Solid working knowledge of key UK fire safety legislation and guidance, including RRFSO 2005, HSG168, CDM Legislation, and Building Safety Act 2022
- Proven experience using data for fire safety reports and developing health and safety management systems
- CSCS Managers and Professionals competence
- NEBOSH Fire or Fire Safety Certificate
Desirable skills and experience:
- Fire Safety Level 4 Certification
- Previous experience in a Senior Fire Safety role within construction or other high‑risk environments
- Knowledge of DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations)
