Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking an accomplished health and safety professional to help deliver one of the UK’s most ambitious energy projects. As part of the CWA team, you will play a pivotal role in the building of Sizewell C—a 3.2‑gigawatt power station that will generate clean, reliable electricity for 6 million homes and underpin our low‑carbon future for generations. In this position, you will be instrumental in driving excellence in our Safety Management System (SMS) and promoting a positive health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) culture across the organisation. This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to both our project’s success and the wider energy landscape.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the Head of HSW and the wider team in developing an effective SMS for the CWA.
- Work closely with the Integrated Management System (IMS) development team in preparation for the launch of the CWA IMS.
- Monitor relevant legislation, client requirements and alliance parent company updates to ensure our SMS remains compliant and up to date.
- Champion the implementation of, and ensure compliance with, the CWA SMS through engagement and ongoing assurance.
- Prepare fact‑based reports following audits and stakeholder engagements.
- Build robust relationships with CWA project teams and wider stakeholders to embed a strong HSW culture.
- Ensure lessons learned from events and parent companies are adopted and communicated effectively within the SMS.
- Support delivery and communication of the nuclear safety message across the whole CWA team.

- CSCS Managers and Professionals certification.
Qualifications and experience required:
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential).
- Proven experience in developing and using health and safety management systems.
- Experience managing people or direct reports.
- Ideally, you’ll also have a NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety and previous experience in a health and safety role within construction or a transferable industry.
- Confident presentational skills.
