We are looking for a forward-thinking Prototype Vehicle Technician to join a fantastic development team working on models of the future on a 12-month contract basis. Your Role
You will be responsible for the proofing, testing and development of whole vehicles including ICE and EV vehicles. Using your Mechanical, Electrical and Trim skills you will assist in the early-stage prototype development process in a state-of-the-art facility working closely with Engineers to ensure accurate testing and development, understanding the ‘why', ‘how' and ‘ifs' of vehicle mechanics.
Your Working Hours
Weekly Rotating Double Day Shift Pattern: 37 hours per week + Overtime when required.
- Early Shift - Monday to Thursday 6:00am - 2:05pm and Friday 6:00am – 12:00pm
- Late Shift - Monday to Thursday 1:55pm – 10:00pm and Friday 11:50am - 5:50pm
Your Pay And Contract
£34.13 per hour, paid via an Umbrella PAYE payroll model. 12-month Contract with potential extensions. This contract is deemed Inside of IR35.
Your Duties And Responsibilities
- Whole vehicle developments to include: Vehicle Dynamics, Braking systems, Suspension, Dampers, Powertrains
- Mechanical and Electrical strip, build, calibration and refit of various systems.
- Working closely with engineers to adapt, calibrate, test and prove out prototype vehicles ensuring they are fit for purpose (e.g. at high speeds, on differing terrains, in hot/cold climates)
- Using all round knowledge of EV's, Hybrid, Petrol and Diesel vehicles
- Applying knowledge of whole vehicle instrumentation on test / development vehicles
- Diagnosis and support logging of issues and engineering improvements
- Reading and interpreting engineer drawings
- Experience of using a variety of handheld tools.
- Experience of working with precision components.
Our Ideal Prototype Vehicle Technician
- Level 3 City and Guilds/NVQ/IMI qualifications in an automotive discipline (essential).
- Electric Vehicle / Hybrid Level 3 (IMI or equivalent) (desirable).
- Capable of interfacing with modern day vehicle electrical systems
- Extensive hands-on experience of whole vehicle.
- Good engineering background essential
- Ability to develop good technical solutions to build/ quality issues.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of H&S, C.O.S.H and environmental procedures
- Flexible attitude towards working hours as overtime may be required.
