The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally as the UK's leading organisation for protective policing of the civil nuclear industry and critical national infrastructure. We recruit skilled and committed professionals to our team.
Our role involves protecting the nation’s security through 24/7 armed response, patrolling nuclear sites, facilities, and materials, as well as local community patrols and collaboration with local police forces. We are part of the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and have been deployed nationwide during Operation Temperer.
Upon joining CNC, officers undergo a 19-week comprehensive Authorised Firearms training programme, designed to prepare individuals as highly trained firearms professionals. Existing AFO/ARV trained officers will undertake a 4-week condensed training.
After a 6-month probation, officers can apply for specialist roles such as Dog Handler, Firearms Instructor, or Strategic Escort Group Officer.
Applicants must hold a full manual driving licence and have satisfactorily passed their probation with their current or previous force.
