Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 armed response as part of a highly trained, professional team from Operational Units.
- Protect nuclear sites, facilities and materials, and patrol local communities.
- Collaborate with local Home Office Police Forces and support national operations as required (e.g., Strategic Armed Policing Reserve, Operation Temperer deployments).
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development, including initial firearms training and continued fitness maintenance.
- Work within CNC values and the Code of Ethics, delivering high standards of behaviour at all times.
- Progress to specialist roles after a 2-year probation (e.g., Dog Handler, Special Branch, Firearms Instructor, or Strategic Escort Group Officer).
Training and Relocation
- Your training includes a 19-week residential Initial Foundation Programme (IFP) with comprehensive Authorised Firearms training; prior policing experience is not required.
- Training venues will be chosen to align with relocation needs, with at least one local Caithness course each year (first week in Oxfordshire).
Qualifications and Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years old and hold a full manual driving licence.
- Vetting to national standards is required if your application is successful.
Relocation Support
- Relocation assistance of up to £5,000 is available to ease travel and setting-up costs; each case is assessed individually to reflect specific needs.
